Agata Mayes Architecture of Inner Space

Agata Mayes' Architecture of Inner Space is a vibrant and innovative art installation where a sculptural form built from a baby grand piano acts as a canvas for a video projection. By emphasising its exposed, internal parts, the artist suggests emotions, thoughts, fleeting memories as if it has become a living entity. A multilayered soundscape compounds all elements and adds another sensory dimension to the space.

This artwork is a collaboration with a pianist and composer, Ania Massetti.

Artist Bio:

Agata Mayes is a polish-born visual artist, living in Melbourne, Australia since 2012. Her interest in psychology and philosophy combined with education in both photography and computer technologies, forms the foundation of her current art practice.

Agata’s natural affinity for video and installation, coupled with her courage to explore themes and ideas that are both personal and universal, enables her to create strong and thought-provoking work.

In 2018, Agata was awarded 'Victorian Emerging Photographer of the Year' from the Institute of Professional Photographers (AIPP). She is maintaining continual self-development and growth through her practice by further experimentation with lens-based media, projection mapping, VR, video, and light installations.

Agata works and exhibits with several art and music organisations including Tempo Rubato Concert Hall in Brunswick where her work is a part of their art collection, and she performs live stage projections.
