Debuting this concept at South Side Festival for the first time on May 13, Big Bao presents: MELD—melding music and movement.
Musician and producer Yeo readies an elevated live set in collaboration with staples of our dance community, movement artists Jonathan Homsey, MaggZ and Trevor Santos. To be performed at Plexus, Frankston Arts Centre within the immersive underground light and audio experience, designed by Mandylights.
Yeo's music spans many relatable themes—the complexities of relationships and conflict from the perspective of a person of colour struggling to find a place to belong.
Movement artists Jonathan Homsey, MaggZ and Trevor Santos interpret the thought-provoking lyricism and nostalgic melodies within their choreography to present the melding of their self-expressions.
Alternating between vocals, keytar, keys and bass, Yeo will be accompanied by Small FRY on DJ duties. With Big Bao DJs resident DJ Cookie setting the mood to open and close the evening.
Big Bao is a collective that throws parties and produces events with careful curation to give a platform to Asian-Australian artists and artists of colour.
