Frankston City’s new South Side Festival seeks Expressions of Interest

Lock it in – Frankston City will hold its new 2022 signature event, South Side Festival, from 6 – 15 May.

The festival will offer a comprehensive program of thought-provoking art, cultural, heritage and food experiences across multiple venues and spaces that will transform Frankston City, while providing opportunities for existing events, local businesses and locally grown content to flourish.

North East Ward Cr Suzette Tayler said Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from artists and creatives for the presentation of an arts, cultural and/or heritage project/event in the ‘Locally Grown Content’ and ‘Large Scale Community Engagement’ categories.

Cr Tayler said: “The successful applicant for each category will receive $25,000 funding and council support to present their project during festival period. This is an amazing opportunity we can’t wait to see what our talented artists and creatives produce.”

Locally Grown Content

Does your organisation have an exciting concept for content – such as a project, event or series of events – that will ignite audience interest and deliver a high level creative experience?

Does your project demonstrate artistic integrity, uniqueness and innovation in creative output? Think outside the box and pitch the unexpected!

Cr Tayler said: “Content for this category must be produced by an organisation that is based in or strongly connected to the Frankston City municipality. Applicants from outside the municipality will not be considered for this category.”

Large Scale Community Engagement

Are you an artist or organisation who loves engaging with the community and collaboratively developing intriguing and impactful content?

Do you have an idea for an innovative project that will inspire community participation and result in an accessible and inclusive public presentation? We are all ears!

Cr Tayler said: “Content for this category can be produced by an organisation outside of the Frankston City municipality, but must engage with the Frankston City community in the development and delivery of your project and outcome.”
